I’ve long maintained that the best camera in the world is the one you have with you.
Never mind that I’m a nit-picky “pixel-peeper.” (Years of working in a digital photo lab have sensitized me to chromatic aberration and luminance noise.)
But in spite of my preference for tack-sharp images with shadow detail, I’ve found myself rather enjoying my iPhone as an improvised photographic tool.
One problem, though: I haven’t bothered to take the photos off of my phone. Until tonight.
Here’s one of my favorites, a snapshot of friend Tucker checking out the neighbor’s cat.
In hindsight, I’ve also discovered that I have a thing for bumper stickers.
OK, so my images are not as evocative as Greg Schmigel’s. But that’s alright. They’re still a wonderful reminder of those fleeting moments in which something interesting caught my eye.
