Last night Esteban and I went to the dreaded State Fair to see Weird Al Yankovic.

I’m not ashamed to admit I’m a longtime fan of Al’s. I find him clever and hilarious and (surprisingly to some) culturally insightful. But I had no idea what to expect of him in concert.

I was blown away.

Not only is he a genuinely gifted musician, but — to use my favorite sports parlance — he gives 110%. His energy and enthusiasm were contagious. And by the end, I was hoarse from laughing.

It would be tough for me to pick a favorite moment. So I won’t even try. But for sure I’ll brave the State Fair again next year, if he comes back to town.
