Today marks the second-annual Give to the Max Day.

I heard about it yesterday through a colleague. Then I heard about it last night on Facebook. And again this morning, through my email. And again on Facebook.

“Enough already!” I was tempted to shout. But I’m glad I checked it out.

For starters, I learned that some of my favorite nonprofits are eligible for matching grants. I was also surprised to see that, at 5:26 a.m., 1248 people had already donated $252,081.29. (Impressive! Though I wonder … who contributed the 29 cents?)

I sometimes get down on the selfishness and entitlement that seem to be the hallmarks of our culture. But this morning I’m seeing the other side of the coin.

If you have a favorite charity, please consider making a donation today.
