Today I received the season’s first holiday card, from  my dear friends Jim and John.

How funny that it should arrive on exactly the same date as last year’s card. And how fitting that Jim and John should once again be the winners of Esteban’s and my “early bird award.” Congratulations, guys! Your card gets the place of honor on our mantle—and you get a free sushi dinner.
