To my father: Thank you.
Of all the photos I have of my dad, this one’s among my favorites.
I know you can’t really see him. But still, he’s there — supporting me and doing all the work, so I can enjoy the ride.
It’s a great metaphor, actually. My dad worked hard his entire life to support me and my sisters, to make sure we lacked for nothing.
He also had the courage to discipline us, and to teach us the values and virtues he holds most dear: integrity, self-discipline, determination, hard work.
I will never live up to the extraordinary example my father has set for me. But I will always be grateful for his guidance, and for his rock-steady presence in my life.
So today I say thank you to my father, from the bottom of my heart. What a privilege it’s been to share your life …
Happy Father’s Day.

Absolutely love this. Brought goosebumps to my skin and a tear in my eye. Beautiful!
My tribute seems a bit lacking, when I consider how much he’s done for me over the years. But thank you for making my day with your kind words.
Well done! You have a tremendous gift with words, you always know exactly what to say and how to say it.
You just made my day with your kind words, Des. Thank you.
