Five free fontplays for Facebook

02Feb19

Years ago, back when I had free time, one of my hobbies was collecting and playing with fonts. I’d take one of my photos, set a bit of text, and call the result a “fontplay,” after the now-vintage website.

I made most of my fontplays for Facebook (to the dismay of my graphic-designer friends). But since I’ve closed my account I’ll no longer need these — so here are five of my favorites, ready to post as your own cover photo.

Enjoy!

  1. Wow, it is a new experience seeing something like this shared by the actual creator rather than as one of hundreds reshared by others.
I have never thought about where things like this came from, but I will now. Very nice!

Thank you, J.P.! Most memes are just background noise — like music in a restaurant. But when you stop to consider that a human being made each and every one of them, it’s kind of mind-boggling the amount of time and creative energy our species has put into the internet. I’m tickled that now you’ll think differently about these things, though! Thanks so much for stopping by.

  2. These are wonderful! Thank you. 🙂

I’m so glad you like them, and please do feel free to download and share them. Have a wonderful Saturday, and thank you as always for stopping by!

  3. I would gladly close my FB account if I could only find my children anywhere else. Sad.

That really IS sad! Well … I’m sure you’re mindful of what you share, and of your privacy settings. That goes a long way.

  4. Interesting idea!

  5. really

  6. Nicely done.

  7. Those are cool fontplays. My favourite is “be kind”.

  8. Ooh, I love fonts! I find it FASCINATING how different fonts evoke different meanings and feelings. Some being serious, others whimsical. How cleverly chosen fonts are for brand identity. I studied graphics (with a small g) in college and still have my Letraset font catalogue. I would read it like a book! Your memes are beautifully put together.

How wonderful to find another font fan among my blog friends! Though you sound even more dedicated than me (reading your Letraset font catalog like a book?!). You’re so right that fonts can evoke powerful emotions, though. To me they are like the “body language” of the written word. Thank you so much for stopping by, and for your kind words!

  9. Nice!
