My pen name is pronounced HY-duh in German (with the emphasis on the “hi”). But if you’re into 19th century literature you can call me Ishmael instead.

As a child I used to spend hours lying on my belly in the back yard, observing whatever was beneath my nose. More than 40 years later I’m still insatiably curious about the world around me — and it still fills me with wonder and awe.
