Freshly Pressed AGAIN?! Holy cow!

I knew something was up yesterday morning, when I opened my email.

[HBlog] Eep liked your post (A Paris reprieve. Today’s topic? Bras.)
[HBlog] Eep subscribed to your blog

[HBlog] Comment: “Just fling me over the fence”
[HBlog] YoMama liked your post (Star Wars meets Toy Story)
[HBlog] Comment: “I’m here for the plastic chicken”

On and on the messages went, filling my in-box almost to capacity. “Holy shmit!” I thought. “I’ve been Freshly Pressed again?!”

I had my first brush with fame last March, when I wrote about the yin and yang of destruction and creation. I was pretty psyched to get over 2,000 hits in one day. (Until then, I’d had only two regular readers. Honest!)

But although it was gratifying to watch that gray bar grow taller, my favorite part of the Freshly Pressed experience was the interaction with my fellow bloggers. I discovered some wonderful writers that day — and I made a handful of cherished friends (thank you, dancingbeastie, knotrune, Lis, insidejourneys, XpatScot …). I was reminded that there are a lot of cool, kind, interesting, intelligent people out there.

The same has been true over the past couple of days.

So … to all of you who read and who wrote: Thank you! I’m sorry I don’t have time to respond to all of your comments individually, but I greatly appreciate them.

And to my new subscribers: Welcome! I’ll do my best to post stuff that’s worthy of your time — or to at least make you smile. (Disclaimer: Please read and initial the Attempted Humor clause.)

And last — but definitely not least — a huge THANK YOU to WordPress for providing the platform for this blog. You guys rock.

Well … that’s enough for today. Hasta mañana, amigos …

  1. Congratulations H. I’m still in the “2 readers” (if I’m lucky) category so it’s nice to hear that there IS a light at the end of this long, dark tunnel; even if I don’t see it yet.
    Yours sincerely, freshly squeezed 🙂

    • I’m delighted to be one of *your* readers, Xpat … your writing and photography are always superb.

And although I have no idea how this Freshly Pressed thing works, I’ll put in a good word for you.

In the meantime, keep on shooting and writing. You’re brilliant at both.

      Cheers to ye!

  2. Go H! Are you having the weird sense of deja vu that I’m having?!

[Jerks thumb nonchalantly in vague direction of America, saying, ‘oh, yeah, the famous writer – she and I go waaaay back. To, like, March or somethin’.’]

    🙂

    • Hello, DB! That’s a giant YES to the weird sense of deja vu. Only this time it’s on steroids. Apparently people love reading about Star Wars — and bras.

And yes, you and I do go waaaaay back (at least in HBlog history). So you’ll always have a cherished place in this writer’s life, even after her 15 minutes of fame are up.

Thanks for always brightening my day. 🙂

    • Aw, you’re way too kind, Marcia! But no bow-taking for *this* girl: it makes my back hurt. Ha! (Plus … to paraphrase my creative director, I’m only as good as my last post!) Thanks for being such a faithful reader. 🙂
